Middle East and Africa solar technology tenders in October 2021 saw 51 tenders announced, marking a rise of 59% over the last 12-month average of 32, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

The proportion of solar technology tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation with 43 tenders and an 84.3% share
  2. Supply & Erection: five tenders and a 9.8% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: one tender and a 2% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: one tender and a 2% share
  5. Power Purchase Agreement: one tender and a 2% share.

Lebanon tops Middle East and Africa solar power tenders activity

Lebanon was the top country in the Middle East and Africa region for solar technology tenders recorded in October 2021 with nine tenders and a 17.6% share, followed by Jordan with seven tenders and a 13.7% share and Uganda with six tenders and an 11.8% share.

Middle East and Africa solar technology tenders in October 2021: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Middle East and Africa were:

  1. Renewable Energy and Electricity Efficiency Organization: 10,000MW from one tender
  2. Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (South Africa): 2,600MW from one tender
  3. Specialized Sun for Renewable Energy: 100MW capacity from one tender.
