Middle East and Africa Solar technology tenders activity rises 24% in April 2021

Middle East and Africa solar technology tenders in April 2021 saw 26 tenders announced, marking a rise of 24% over the last 12-month average of 21, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

The proportion of solar technology tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation with 23 tenders and an 88.5% share
  2. Supply & Erection: two tenders and a 7.7% share
  3. Power Purchase Agreement: one tender and a 3.8% share.

Jordan tops Middle East and Africa solar power tenders activity

Jordan was the top country in the Middle East and Africa region for solar technology tenders recorded in April 2021 with six tenders and a 23.1% share, followed by South Africa with four tenders and a 15.4% share and Ethiopia with three tenders and an 11.5% share.

Middle East and Africa solar technology tenders in April 2021: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Middle East and Africa were:

  1. Air Liquide (France) and Sasol (South Africa): 600MW from one tender
  2. Kurdistan Regional Government (Iraq): 25MW from one tender
  3. National Lotteries Commission: 5MW capacity from one tender.
