The Bureau of Sewerage, Tokyo Metropolitan Government launched an ambitious response to the Kyoto Protocol. The Bureau accounted for 45% of all the greenhouse gas emissions generated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, and sought to reduce emissions by instituting a number of energy efficiency measures and incorporating sodium batteries.
The Morigasaki Water Reclamation Center’s ESS consists of 4 x 2 MW NGK Insulators Ltd. NaS units. The system provides load leveling and backup power.
