Nagel Substation is a 500kV substation located in Nagel, Tennessee, US.

The works are expected to be commissioned in 2021.


Nagel Substation project, which is an upgrade substation, will be operated by Appalachian Power.

The designed voltage level of the substation is 500/138kV and the operating voltage level is 500/138kV.

The step-in voltage of the project is 500kV and the step-out voltage is 138kV. Upon completion, the substation will have a capacity of 750MVA.

Nagel Substation project development status

The development of the Nagel Substation project was approved by Tennessee Regulatory Authority. The project is expected to be commissioned in 2021. Approximately $105m was financed by the authorities to undertake the construction works of the project.
