The project is being developed and currently owned by Jammu and Kashmir State Power Development.
New Ganderbal is a run-of-river project. The gross head and net head of the project will be 163.5m and 142.2m respectively. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, is expected to be 3 in number. The penstock length will be 265m. The penstock diameter will be 2.5m. The project is expected to generate 382.82 GWh of electricity. The project cost is expected to be around $189.115m.
The hydro power project consists of 3 turbines, each with 31MW nameplate capacity.
