The NLC Talabira Thermal Power Project is 3,200MW coal fired power project. It is planned in Odisha, India. The project is currently in permitting stage. It will be developed in multiple phases. Description
The project is being developed and currently owned by NLC India.
It is a steam turbine power plant that will be used for Baseload. The power plant can run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant will be coal. In case of shortage of coal the plant will run on Light Diesel Oil/ Heavy Fuel Oil. The fuel will be procured from talabira-ii, talabira-iii coal blocks.
The project cost is expected to be around $2,467.36m.
NLC Talabira Thermal Power Project (NLC Talabira Thermal Power Project Stage I) consists of 3 steam turbines with 800MW nameplate capacity.
NLC Talabira Thermal Power Project (NLC Talabira Thermal Power Project Stage II) consists of 1 steam turbine with 800MW nameplate capacity.
Development Status
The project construction is expected to commence from 2021. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2023.
Power Purchase Agreement
The power generated from the project will be sold to National Aluminium under a power purchase agreement. The offtake capacity is expected to be 1,200MW.
