North America energy storage tenders activity up 26% in Q4 2021

There were 53 energy storage tenders announced in the North America region in Q4 2021, marking a rise of 26% over the last four-quarter average of 42, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

T&D Equipment stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the North America region in Q4 2021 with 280 tenders and a 40.1% share, followed by Generation Equipment with 273 tenders and a 39.1% share and Energy Storage with 53 tenders and a 7.6% share during the quarter.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 44 tenders and an 83% share
  2. Project Implementation: five tenders and a 9.4% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: two tenders and a 3.8% share
  4. Power Purchase Agreement: two tenders and a 3.8% share.

Solar is top technology for North America energy storage tenders in Q4 2021

Looking at energy storage tenders by the type of technology in the North America region, solar accounted for six tenders with a 75% share, followed by thermal with one tender and a 12.5% share and wind with one tender and a 12.5% share.

North America energy storage tenders in Q4 2021: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of energy storage tenders for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in North America were:

  1. Georgia Power (United States): 1,030MW from one tender
  2. Central Coast Community Energy (United States): 5MW from one tender.
