North America power industry contracts in April 2020: The US leads activity
Looking at contracts by country, the US led the activity in April 2020 with 61 contracts and a share of 92.4%, up 1.1% over the previous month and up 11% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Canada with three contracts and a share of 4.5% and Mexico with one contract and a share of 1.5% during the month.
Looking at the last 12-month average, the US held the top spot with 55 contracts, followed by Canada with four and Mexico with three contracts.

Solar is top technology area for contracts in April 2020
Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 25 contracts and a 51% share, followed by wind with 20 contracts and a 40.8% share and thermal with three contracts and a 6.1% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment in North America as tracked by GlobalData, Electricity Procurement was the most popular segment in April 2020, with 24 contracts, followed by Power Plant (15) and T&D Equipment (11).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Power Purchase Agreement: 23 contracts and a 34.8% share
- Supply & Erection: 23 contracts and a 34.8% share
- Project Implementation: 13 contracts and a 19.7% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: four contracts and a 6.1% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: two contracts and a 3% share
- Electricity Supply: one contract and a 1.5% share.
