North America power industry tenders in April 2021: The US leads activity

Looking at tenders by country, the US led the activity in April 2021 with 182 tenders and a share of 79.8%, up 0.9% over the previous month and down 4% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Canada with 46 tenders and a share of 20.2%.

Looking at the last 12-month average, the US held the top spot with 189 tenders, followed by Canada with 37.

Thermal is top technology area for tenders in April 2021

Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, thermal accounted for the largest proportion with 76 tenders and a 70.4% share, followed by solar with 16 tenders and a 14.8% share and hydro with eight tenders and a 7.4% share.

Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment in North America as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Equipment was the most popular segment in April 2021, with 114 tenders, followed by Generation Equipment (78) and Power Plant (13).

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 169 tenders and a 74.1% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 40 tenders and a 17.5% share
  3. Project Implementation: 15 tenders and a 6.6% share
  4. Power Purchase Agreement: two tenders and a 0.9% share
  5. Consulting & Similar Services: one tender and a 0.4% share
  6. Others: one tender and a 0.4% share.

Power tenders in April 2021: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuer of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in North America was:South Dakota State Government with 0.14MW from one tender.
