North America power industry tenders in February 2021: The US leads activity
Looking at tenders by country, the US led the activity in February 2021 with 167 tenders and a share of 77%, down 2% over the previous month and down 8% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Canada with 48 tenders and a share of 22.1% and Puerto Rico with two tenders and a share of 0.9% during the month.
Looking at the last 12-month average, the US held the top spot with 182 tenders, followed by Canada with 35.

Thermal is top technology area for tenders in February 2021
Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, thermal accounted for the largest proportion with 81 tenders and a 75% share, followed by solar with 23 tenders and a 21.3% share and wind with three tenders and a 2.8% share.
Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment in North America as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Equipment was the most popular segment in February 2021, with 94 tenders, followed by Generation Equipment (83) and Power Plant (21).
The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 147 tenders and a 67.7% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 41 tenders and an 18.9% share
- Project Implementation: 24 tenders and an 11.1% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: four tenders and a 1.8% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: one tender and a 0.5% share.
Power tenders in February 2021: Top issuers by capacity
The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in North America were:
- Appalachian Power (United States): 300MW from one tender
- City of Charlotte: 0.97MW from one tender
- Port of San Diego (United States): 0.7MW capacity from one tender.
