North America power industry tenders in March 2021: The US leads activity

Looking at tenders by country, the US led the activity in March 2021 with 182 tenders and a share of 78.1%, up 0.6% over the previous month and down 2% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Canada with 51 tenders and a share of 21.9%.

Looking at the last 12-month average, the US held the top spot with 185 tenders, followed by Canada with 36.

Thermal is top technology area for tenders in March 2021

Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, thermal accounted for the largest proportion with 89 tenders and an 80.2% share, followed by solar with 17 tenders and a 15.3% share and hydro with four tenders and a 3.6% share.

Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment in North America as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Equipment was the most popular segment in March 2021, with 98 tenders, followed by Generation Equipment (89) and Energy Storage (18).

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 179 tenders and a 76.8% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 32 tenders and a 13.7% share
  3. Project Implementation: 18 tenders and a 7.7% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: two tenders and a 0.9% share

Power tenders in March 2021: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in North America were:

  1. Entergy Services (United States): 700MW from two tenders
  2. Entergy Services, L: 500MW from one tender
  3. St. Albert: 1MW capacity from one tender.
