North America power industry tenders in October 2019: The US leads activity
Looking at tenders by country, the US led the activity in October 2019 with 74 tenders and a share of 74%, up 8.9% over the previous month and down 28% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Canada with 26 tenders and a share of 26%.
Looking at the last 12-month average, the US held the top spot with 103 tenders, followed by Canada with 36.

Thermal is top technology area for tenders in October 2019
Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, thermal accounted for the largest proportion with 39 tenders and a 90.7% share, followed by solar with three tenders and a 7% share and wind with one tender and a 2.3% share.
Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment in North America as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Equipment was the most popular segment in October 2019, with 46 tenders, followed by Generation Equipment (38) and Energy Storage (10).
The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 75 tenders and a 75% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 18 tenders and an 18% share
- Project Implementation: three tenders and a 3% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: three tenders and a 3% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: one tender and a 1% share.

The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in North America were:
- Northern Indiana Public Service (United States): 2,600MW from two tenders
- Platte River Power Authority (United States): 150MW from one tender
- Peterborough Utilities (Canada): 10MW capacity from one tender.
