North America power industry tenders in Q1 2020: The US leads activity

Looking at tenders by country, the US led the activity in Q1 2020 with 393 tenders and a share of 78.9%, up 0.2% over the previous quarter and up 26% when compared with the last four-quarter average, followed by Canada with 105 tenders and a share of 21.1%.

Looking at the last four-quarter average, the US held the top spot with 311 tenders, followed by Canada with 108.

Thermal is top technology area for tenders in Q1 2020

Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, thermal accounted for the largest proportion with 150 tenders and a 70.4% share, followed by solar with 44 tenders and a 20.7% share and wind with 11 tenders and a 5.2% share.

Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Equipment was the most popular segment in North America power tenders activity during Q1 2020, with 250 tenders, followed by Generation Equipment (159) and Energy Storage (44).

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:
