North America Solar technology contracts activity drops 5% in July 2021

North America solar technology contracts in July 2021 saw 36 contracts announced, marking a drop of 5% over the last 12-month average of 38, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

The proportion of solar technology contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Power Purchase Agreement with 20 contracts and a 55.6% share
  2. Project Implementation: seven contracts and a 19.4% share
  3. Supply & Erection: seven contracts and a 19.4% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: one contract and a 2.8% share
  5. Electricity Supply: one contract and a 2.8% share.

The US tops North America solar power contracts activity

The US was the top country in the North America region for solar technology contracts recorded in July 2021 with 34 contracts and a 94.4% share, followed by Canada with two contracts and a 5.6% share.

North America solar technology contracts in July 2021: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in North America were:

  1. Intersect Power (United States): 1,041MW from three contracts
  2. Amazon.com (United States): 474MW from one contract
  3. Central Coast Community Energy: 455MW capacity from five contracts.

North America solar technology contracts in July 2021: Top winners by capacity

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in North America were:

  1. Signal Energy Constructors (United States): 728MW from two contracts
  2. TotalEnergies (France): 546MW from two contracts
  3. First Solar (United States): 313MW capacity from one contract.
