North America Solar technology contracts activity drops 32% in April 2021

North America solar technology contracts in April 2021 saw 25 contracts announced, marking a drop of 32% over the last 12-month average of 37, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

The proportion of solar technology contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Power Purchase Agreement with 17 contracts and a 68% share
  2. Project Implementation: five contracts and a 20% share
  3. Supply & Erection: two contracts and an 8% share
  4. Electricity Supply: one contract and a 4% share.

The US tops North America solar power contracts activity

The US was the top country in the North America region for solar technology contracts recorded in April 2021 with 22 contracts and an 88% share, followed by Canada with three contracts and a 12% share.

North America solar technology contracts in April 2021: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in North America were:

  1. Black Hills Energy (United States) and Northern Indiana Public Service Co L (United States): 200MW from one contract
  2. Advanced Power (Switzerland): 140MW from one contract
  3. Concord Pacific Developments (Canada): 106MW capacity from one contract.

North America solar technology contracts in April 2021: Top winners by capacity

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in North America were:

  1. National Grid Renewables L (United States): 250MW from three contracts
  2. Capital Dynamics (United States): 206.5MW from two contracts
  3. 174 Power Global (United States): 200MW capacity from one contract.
