North America Solar technology tenders activity rises 13% in Q1 2020

North America solar technology tenders in Q1 2020 saw 44 tenders announced, marking a rise of 13% over the last four-quarter average of 39, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

The proportion of solar technology tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation with 29 tenders and a 65.9% share
  2. Supply & Erection: six tenders and a 13.6% share
  3. Consulting & Similar Services: five tenders and an 11.4% share
  4. Power Purchase Agreement: three tenders and a 6.8% share
  5. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: one tender and a 2.3% share.

The US tops North America solar power tenders activity

The US was the top country in the North America region for solar technology tenders recorded in Q1 2020 with 25 tenders and a 56.8% share, followed by Canada with 19 tenders and a 43.2% share.

North America solar technology tenders in Q1 2020: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of tenders for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in North America were:

  1. CPS Energy (United States): 1,450MW from one tender
  2. Salt River Project (United States): 400MW from one tender
  3. Tennessee Valley Authority (United States) and Appalachian Power (United States): 200MW capacity from one tender.
