North Hoyle is a 60MW offshore wind power project. The project is located in Irish Sea, Wales, the UK. The project is currently active. It has been developed in single phase. The project construction commenced in 2002 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in July 2004.

Description

The project was developed by RWE Renewables UK Swindon and is currently owned by Greencoat UK Wind with a stake of 100%.

The wind turbines in the project are installed on fixed foundations. An array of monopile foundations feature in the project.

The project generates 189,800MWh electricity and supplies enough clean energy to power 40,000 households, offsetting 160,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year. The project cost is $160.321m.

The project is currently active. The project construction commenced in 2002 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in July 2004.

Power Purchase Agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to RWE Generation UK under a power purchase agreement at the rate of $0.091kWh. The contracted capacity is 60MW.

Contractors Involved

Vestas Wind Systems was selected as the turbine supplier for the wind power project. The company provided 30 units of V80-2.0 MW turbines, each with 2MW nameplate capacity.

Vestas Wind Systems is the O&M contractor for the wind power project. The operation and maintenance contract commenced from 2004, for a period of 5 years.
