The project was developed by NOVI Energy and is currently owned by Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative.
The project supplies enough clean energy to power 16,000 households. The project cost is $178m.
NOVEC Energy Production Halifax County Biomass Plant is a co-firing project. Wood waste which is a kind of wood by-product is used as a feedstock to power the project.
