Nunez de Balboa Solar PV Park is a 500MW solar PV power project. It is located in Extremadura, Spain. The project is currently active. It has been developed in multiple phases. The project construction commenced in 2019 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in April 2020.

Description

The project is developed by ecoEnergias del Guadiana and Iberdrola. These companies also have ownership stakes in the project.

Nunez de Balboa Solar PV Park is a ground-mounted solar project which is spread over an area of 1,000 hectares.

The project generates 832GWh electricity and supplies enough clean energy to power 250,000 households, offsetting 215,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year. The project cost is $340m.

Power Purchase Agreement

Euskaltel and Kutxabank are the power offtakers from the project.

Contractors Involved

Eiffage Energia S L U was selected to render EPC services for the solar PV power project.

The solar PV modules for the project were supplied by GCL System Integration Technology and Wuxi Suntech Power.

Power Electronics Espana supplied 115 of its HEC V1500 inverters to the project site.

The project is utilising trackers supplied by Gonvarri Steel Services.
