Phu My 2-2 Combined Cycle Power Plant is a 729.4MW gas fired power project. It is located in Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Vietnam. The project is currently active. It has been developed in single phase. The project construction commenced in 2003 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in February 2005.

Description

The project was developed by Mekong Energy. EDF Energy Holdings, Sumitomo and JERA are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 56.25%, 28.12% and 15.62% respectively.

It is a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant. The power plant run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant is natural gas. In case of shortage of natural gas the plant can also run on Diesel. The fuel is procured from Petro Vietnam from the Nam Con Son Basin.

The project cost is $480m.

Power Purchase Agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Vietnam Electricity under a power purchase agreement for a period of 20 years. The contracted capacity is 729.4MW.

GE Power was selected as the turbine supplier for the Gas fired project. The company provided 2 units of 9F.03 gas turbines, each with 226.2MW nameplate capacity.

GE Power was selected as the turbine supplier for the Gas fired project. The company provided 1 unit of D11-TC2F steam turbine with 277MW nameplate capacity.

GE Power supplied Hydrogen-Cooled electric generator for the project.

Siemens Heat Transfer Technology supplied steam boiler for the project.

Mekong Energy is the O&M contractor for thermal power project.
