Asia-Pacific power industry contracts in April 2022: China leads activity
Looking at contracts by country, China led the activity in April 2022 with 79 contracts and a share of 58.1%, up 4.4% over the previous month and up 108% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by India with 16 contracts and a share of 11.8% and Japan with ten contracts and a share of 7.4% during the month.
Looking at the last 12-month average, China held the top spot with 38 contracts, followed by India with 20 and Australia with eight contracts.

Solar is top technology area for contracts in April 2022
Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 70 contracts and a 64.2% share, followed by wind with 20 contracts and an 18.3% share and thermal with nine contracts and an 8.3% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment in Asia-Pacific as tracked by GlobalData, Power Plant was the most popular segment in April 2022, with 65 contracts, followed by T&D Project (40) and Generation Equipment (26).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Project Implementation: 69 contracts and a 50.7% share
- Supply & Erection: 27 contracts and a 19.9% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: 22 contracts and a 16.2% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: 14 contracts and a 10.3% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: four contracts and a 2.9% share.

The top issuers of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:
- Riau Islands: 3,062MW from one contract
- County of Buxel and Government of Xinjiang Tacheng: 3,000MW from one contract
- West Holdings (Japan): 2,700MW capacity from four contracts.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:
- Sunseap Group (Singapore): 3,062MW from one contract
- JERA (Japan): 2,700MW from four contracts
