Asia-Pacific power industry contracts in Q3 2021: China leads activity

Looking at contracts by country, China led the activity in Q3 2021 with 87 contracts and a share of 26.9%, down 2.5% over the previous quarter and up 18% when compared with the last four-quarter average, followed by India with 73 contracts and a share of 22.5% and Australia with 31 contracts and a share of 9.6% during the quarter.

Looking at the last four-quarter average, China held the top spot with 74 contracts, followed by India with 58 and Australia with 33 contracts.

Solar is top technology area for contracts in Q3 2021

Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 155 contracts and a 51% share, followed by wind with 75 contracts and a 24.7% share and thermal with 35 contracts and an 11.5% share.

Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, Power Plant was the most popular segment in Asia-Pacific power contracts activity during Q3 2021, with 135 contracts, followed by Electricity Procurement (94) and Generation Equipment (84).

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  2. Supply & Erection: 80 contracts and a 24.7% share
