Onshore was the top category in wind technology in terms of number of contracts for the month, accounting for 75 contracts and a 77.3% share, followed by Offshore with 18 contracts and an 18.6% share. Onshore Repowered stood in third place with four contracts and a 4.1% share.

Looking at global power contracts activity divided by the type of technology, wind held the top position in terms of number of contracts during December 2020 with a 37.7% share.

The proportion of contracts by category in the Wind technology tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 54 contracts and a 55.7% share
  2. Power Purchase Agreement: 24 contracts and a 24.7% share
  3. Project Implementation: 12 contracts and a 12.4% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: five contracts and a 5.2% share
  5. Electricity Supply: one contract and a 1% share
  6. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: one contract and a 1% share.

Europe leads wind contracts activity in December 2020

Comparing contracts activity in wind technology in different regions of the globe, Europe held the top position with 46 contracts and a share of 47.4% during December 2020, followed by North America with 23 contracts and a 23.7% share and Asia-Pacific with 20 contracts and a 20.6% share.

In fourth place was South and Central America with eight contracts and an 8.2% share.

The top issuers of contracts in Wind technology for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Amazon Web Services (United States): 1,223MW from four contracts
  2. McDonald’s: 326MW from two contracts
  3. Orsted (Denmark): 325MW capacity from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Engie (France): 569MW from one contract
  2. BP (United Kingdom): 404MW from two contracts
  3. Apex Clean Energy Holdings L (United States): 326MW capacity from two contracts.
