Europe power industry contracts in April 2022: Germany leads activity

Looking at contracts by country, Germany led the activity in April 2022 with ten contracts and a share of 14.1%, up 5% over the previous month and down 9% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Spain with ten contracts and a share of 14.1% and Sweden with nine contracts and a share of 12.7% during the month.

Looking at the last 12-month average, Spain held the top spot with 18 contracts, followed by the UK with 15 and Germany with 11 contracts.

Wind is top technology area for contracts in April 2022

Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, wind accounted for the largest proportion with 23 contracts and a 39.7% share, followed by solar with 21 contracts and a 36.2% share and nuclear with five contracts and an 8.6% share.

Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment in Europe as tracked by GlobalData, Generation Equipment was the most popular segment in April 2022, with 22 contracts, followed by Power Plant (22) and T&D Equipment (14).

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 27 contracts and a 38% share
  2. Project Implementation: 16 contracts and a 22.5% share
  3. Power Purchase Agreement: 12 contracts and a 16.9% share
  4. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: nine contracts and a 12.7% share
  5. Consulting & Similar Services: six contracts and an 8.5% share
  6. Others: one contract and a 1.4% share.

The top issuers of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:

  1. Meta Platforms (United States): 210MW from one contract
  2. Con Edison Clean Energy Businesses (United States): 194MW from one contract
  3. Atalaya Mining, EDF Renewables UK (United Kingdom) and Nestle (Switzerland): 50MW capacity from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:

  1. Luxcara (Germany): 210MW from one contract
  2. MYR Group (United States): 194MW from one contract
  3. Anesco (United Kingdom), BayWa r.e (Germany) and Endesa X (Spain): 50MW capacity from one contract.
