Europe power industry contracts in January 2022: Germany leads activity

Looking at contracts by country, Germany led the activity in January 2022 with ten contracts and a share of 18.2%, up 6.8% over the previous month and down 17% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Spain with eight contracts and a share of 14.5% and the UK with seven contracts and a share of 12.7% during the month.

Looking at the last 12-month average, Spain held the top spot with 27 contracts, followed by the UK with 21 and France with 21 contracts.

Wind is top technology area for contracts in January 2022

Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, wind accounted for the largest proportion with 25 contracts and a 50% share, followed by solar with 18 contracts and a 36% share and thermal with four contracts and an 8% share.

Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment in Europe as tracked by GlobalData, Electricity Procurement was the most popular segment in January 2022, with 19 contracts, followed by Generation Equipment (14) and Power Plant (14).

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Power Purchase Agreement: 18 contracts and a 32.7% share
  2. Supply & Erection: 18 contracts and a 32.7% share
  3. Project Implementation: 11 contracts and a 20% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: four contracts and a 7.3% share
  5. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: three contracts and a 5.5% share
  6. Electricity Supply: one contract and a 1.8% share.
