Europe power industry contracts in July 2022: The UK leads activity
Looking at contracts by country, the UK led the activity in July 2022 with 47 contracts and a share of 68.1%, up 49% over the previous month and up 213% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Germany with ten contracts and a share of 14.5% and Denmark with two contracts and a share of 2.9% during the month.
Looking at the last 12-month average, Spain held the top spot with 16 contracts, followed by the UK with 15 and Germany with 11 contracts.

Wind is top technology area for contracts in July 2022
Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, wind accounted for the largest proportion with 36 contracts and a 52.9% share, followed by solar with 22 contracts and a 32.4% share and ocean power with four contracts and a 5.9% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment in Europe as tracked by GlobalData, Electricity Procurement was the most popular segment in July 2022, with 51 contracts, followed by Generation Equipment (10) and Power Plant (5).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Power Purchase Agreement: 51 contracts and a 73.9% share
- Supply & Erection: 12 contracts and a 17.4% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: three contracts and a 4.3% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: three contracts and a 4.3% share.
Power contracts in July 2022: Top companies by capacity
The top issuers of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:
- Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (United Kingdom): 9,213.6MW from 43 contracts
- Energa (Poland): 88MW from one contract
- Equinix (United States): 42MW capacity from one contract.
Power contracts in July 2022: Top winners by capacity
The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:
- Orsted (Denmark): 2,852MW from one contract
- Norfolk Boreas (United Kingdom): 1,396MW from one contract
- East Anglia Three (United Kingdom): 1,372.34MW capacity from one contract.
