Global power industry contracts in June 2021: Solar technology down 1%

Solar technology contracts activity in June 2021 saw 171 contracts announced, marking a drop of 1% over the last 12-month average of 172, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

Looking at global power contracts activity divided by the type of technology, solar held the top position in terms of number of contracts during June 2021 with a 50.7% share.

The proportion of contracts by category in the Solar technology tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 85 contracts and a 49.7% share
  2. Power Purchase Agreement: 56 contracts and a 32.7% share
  3. Supply & Erection: 23 contracts and a 13.5% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: four contracts and a 2.3% share
  5. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: two contracts and a 1.2% share
  6. Electricity Supply: one contract and a 0.6% share.

Europe leads solar contracts activity in June 2021

Comparing contracts activity in solar technology in different regions of the globe, Europe held the top position with 68 contracts and a share of 39.8% during June 2021, followed by North America with 51 contracts and a 29.8% share and Asia-Pacific with 33 contracts and a 19.3% share.

In fourth place was Middle East and Africa with 15 contracts and an 8.8% share and in fifth place was South and Central America with four contracts and a 2.3% share.

Solar technology contracts in June 2021: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of contracts in Solar technology for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Ministry of Electricity, Iraq (Iraq): 2,000MW from one contract
  2. Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 1,150MW from two contracts
  3. SB Energy (Japan): 649MW capacity from one contract.

Solar technology contracts in June 2021: Top winners by capacity

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Abu Dhabi Future Energy (United Arab Emirates): 2,457MW from two contracts
  2. Acme Solar Holdings Pvt (India): 1,150MW from two contracts
  3. Rosendin Electric (United States): 649MW capacity from one contract.
