Looking at global power contracts activity divided by the type of technology, solar held the top position in terms of number of contracts during March 2020 with a 42.2% share.

The proportion of contracts by category in the Solar technology tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 53 contracts and a 51.5% share
  2. Supply & Erection: 26 contracts and a 25.2% share
  3. Power Purchase Agreement: 21 contracts and a 20.4% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: two contracts and a 1.9% share
  5. Electricity Supply: one contract and a 1% share.

Asia-Pacific leads solar contracts activity in March 2020

Comparing contracts activity in solar technology in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with 37 contracts and a share of 35.9% during March 2020, followed by North America with 35 contracts and a 34% share and Europe with 11 contracts and a 10.7% share.

In fourth place was Middle East and Africa with ten contracts and a 9.7% share and in fifth place was South and Central America with ten contracts and a 9.7% share.

The top issuers of contracts in Solar technology for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. New York State Energy Research & Development Authority (United States): 1,089.89MW from 17 contracts
  2. Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (India): 350MW from three contracts
