Looking at global power contracts activity divided by the type of technology, solar held the top position in terms of number of contracts during May 2020 with a 39.4% share.

The proportion of contracts by category in the Solar technology tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 33 contracts and a 41.3% share
  2. Power Purchase Agreement: 25 contracts and a 31.3% share
  3. Supply & Erection: 17 contracts and a 21.3% share
  4. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: two contracts and a 2.5% share
  5. Electricity Supply: two contracts and a 2.5% share
  6. Consulting & Similar Services: one contract and a 1.3% share.

North America leads solar contracts activity in May 2020

Comparing contracts activity in solar technology in different regions of the globe, North America held the top position with 33 contracts and a share of 41.3% during May 2020, followed by Asia-Pacific with 22 contracts and a 27.5% share and Europe with 14 contracts and a 17.5% share.

In fourth place was Middle East and Africa with seven contracts and an 8.8% share and in fifth place was South and Central America with four contracts and a 5% share.

The top issuers of contracts in Solar technology for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. ZESCO (Zambia): 600MW from one contract
