North America power industry contracts in December 2021: The US leads activity

Looking at contracts by country, the US led the activity in December 2021 with 39 contracts and a share of 92.9%, up 6.7% over the previous month and down 35% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Canada with three contracts and a share of 7.1%.

Looking at the last 12-month average, the US held the top spot with 60 contracts, followed by Canada with four and Mexico with one contract.

Solar is top technology area for contracts in December 2021

Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 18 contracts and a 46.2% share, followed by wind with 16 contracts and a 41% share and thermal with three contracts and a 7.7% share.

Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment in North America as tracked by GlobalData, Generation Equipment was the most popular segment in December 2021, with 15 contracts, followed by Power Plant (11) and Electricity Procurement (11).

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 19 contracts and a 45.2% share
  2. Power Purchase Agreement: 11 contracts and a 26.2% share
  3. Project Implementation: ten contracts and a 23.8% share
  4. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: two contracts and a 4.8% share.
