North America power industry contracts in October 2021: The US leads activity

Looking at contracts by country, the US led the activity in October 2021 with 48 contracts and a share of 94.1%, up 9.1% over the previous month and down 21% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Canada with three contracts and a share of 5.9%.

Looking at the last 12-month average, the US held the top spot with 61 contracts, followed by Canada with five and Mexico with one contract.

Solar is top technology area for contracts in October 2021

Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 30 contracts and a 60% share, followed by wind with seven contracts and a 14% share and hydro with six contracts and a 12% share.

Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment in North America as tracked by GlobalData, Electricity Procurement was the most popular segment in October 2021, with 17 contracts, followed by Power Plant (17) and Generation Equipment (11).

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

1. Project Implementation: 21 contracts and a 41.2% share
2. Power Purchase Agreement: 14 contracts and a 27.5% share
3. Supply & Erection: nine contracts and a 17.6% share
4. Electricity Supply: three contracts and a 5.9% share
5. Consulting & Similar Services: two contracts and a 3.9% share
