Gas was the top category in thermal technology in terms of number of contracts for the quarter, accounting for 52 contracts and a 68.4% share, followed by Coal with 15 contracts and a 19.7% share. Oil stood in third place with nine contracts and an 11.8% share.

Comparing contracts activity in thermal technology in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with 35 contracts and a share of 46.7% during Q1 2021, followed by North America with 14 contracts and an 18.7% share and Middle East and Africa with 11 contracts and a 14.7% share.

In fourth place was Europe with ten contracts and a 13.3% share and in fifth place was South and Central America with five contracts and a 6.7% share.

The top issuers of contracts in Thermal technology for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Gansu Province Electric Power Investment Group (China): 2,000MW from one contract
  2. Manila Electric (Philippines) and Ministry of Energy and Mines, Laos (Laos): 1,800MW from one contract
