South and Central America power industry contracts in August 2021: Brazil leads activity
Looking at contracts by country, Brazil led the activity in August 2021 with six contracts and a share of 30%, down 25% over the previous month and down 25% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Chile with four contracts and a share of 20% and Colombia with two contracts and a share of 10% during the month.
Looking at the last 12-month average, Brazil held the top spot with eight contracts, followed by Chile with three and Colombia with one contract.

Solar is top technology area for contracts in August 2021
Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with eight contracts and a 36.4% share, followed by wind with six contracts and a 27.3% share and hydro with four contracts and an 18.2% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment in South and Central America as tracked by GlobalData, Generation Equipment was the most popular segment in August 2021, with eight contracts, followed by Electricity Procurement (5) and Energy Storage (3).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 11 contracts and a 55% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: five contracts and a 25% share
- Project Implementation: two contracts and a 10% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: two contracts and a 10% share.
