Power industry tenders in April 2020: Asia-Pacific leads global activity
On comparing tenders activity in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with 357 tenders and a share of 54.7% during April 2020, followed by North America with 194 tenders and a 29.7% share and Europe with 71 tenders and a 10.9% share.
In fourth place was Middle East and Africa with 28 tenders and a 4.3% share and in fifth place was South and Central America with three tenders and a 0.5% share.
On the basis of the last 12-month average, Asia-Pacific held a lead over others with 591 tenders, followed by North America with 143.

Thermal tops by technology in April 2020
Looking at tenders by the type of technology, thermal accounted for the largest proportion with 157 tenders and a 65.4% share, followed by solar with 57 tenders and a 23.8% share and hydro with 17 tenders and a 7.1% share.
Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Equipment was the most popular segment during April 2020, with 230 tenders, followed by T&D Project (186) and Generation Equipment (150).
The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 293 tenders and a 44.9% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 173 tenders and a 26.5% share
- Project Implementation: 160 tenders and a 24.5% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: 17 tenders and a 2.6% share
- Electricity Supply: nine tenders and a 1.4% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: one tender and a 0.2% share.
Power tenders in April 2020: Top companies by capacity
The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:
- Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 2,515MW from two tenders
- Renewable Energy Project Development Office (Saudi Arabia): 1,000MW from one tender
- Netherlands Enterprise Agency (Netherlands): 700MW capacity from one tender.
