Asia-Pacific power industry tenders in July 2021: The Philippines leads activity

Looking at tenders by country, the Philippines led the activity in July 2021 with 54 tenders and a share of 28.1%, up 8.2% over the previous month and up 170% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Pakistan with 44 tenders and a share of 22.9% and India with 19 tenders and a share of 9.9% during the month.

Looking at the last 12-month average, India held the top spot with 133 tenders, followed by Pakistan with 34 and the Philippines with 20 tenders.

Thermal is top technology area for tenders in July 2021

Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, thermal accounted for the largest proportion with 50 tenders and a 54.9% share, followed by solar with 37 tenders and a 40.7% share and hydro with two tenders and a 2.2% share.

Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment in Asia-Pacific as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Equipment was the most popular segment in July 2021, with 67 tenders, followed by Generation Equipment (53) and Power Plant (35).

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 91 tenders and a 47.4% share
  2. Project Implementation: 54 tenders and a 28.1% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 35 tenders and an 18.2% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: 12 tenders and a 6.3% share.

Power tenders in July 2021: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

  1. Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 1,301MW from three tenders
  2. NHPC (India): 600MW from one tender
  3. NTPC (India): 500MW capacity from one tender.
