Asia-Pacific power industry tenders in June 2019: India leads activity

Looking at tenders by country, India led the activity in June 2019 with 348 tenders and a share of 55.4%, up 0.5% over the previous month and up 17% when compared with the last 12 month-average.

In second place was Bangladesh with 95 tenders and a share of 15.1% and in third place was the Philippines with 86 tenders and a share of 13.7% during the month.

Looking at the last 12-month average, India held the top spot with 297 tenders, followed by Bangladesh with 96 and the Philippines with 80 tenders.

Thermal is top technology area for tenders in June 2019

Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, Thermal accounted for the largest proportion with 95 tenders and a 45% share, followed by Solar with 90 tenders and a 42.7% share and Hydro with 16 tenders and a 7.6% share.

Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment in Asia-Pacific as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Project was the most popular segment in June 2019, with 322 tenders, followed by T&D Equipment (114) and Power Plant (95).

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation with 266 tenders and a 42.4% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others with 182 tenders and a 29% share
  3. Supply & Erection with 164 tenders and a 26.1% share.

Power tenders in June 2019: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

  1. Solar Energy Corporation of India (India) with 10,200MW from four tenders
  2. NTPC (India) with 2,184MW from four tenders
  3. Maharashtra State Electricity DistributionLtd (India) with 1,500MW capacity from two tenders.
