Asia-Pacific power industry tenders in Q1 2022: Pakistan leads activity

Looking at tenders by country, Pakistan led the activity in Q1 2022 with 49 tenders and a share of 30.8%, up 8% over the previous quarter and down 59% when compared with the last four-quarter average, followed by Bangladesh with 43 tenders and a share of 27% and Sri Lanka with 30 tenders and a share of 18.9% during the quarter.

Looking at the last four-quarter average, Pakistan held the top spot with 119 tenders, followed by India with 95 and the Philippines with 75 tenders.

Solar is top technology area for tenders in Q1 2022

Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 25 tenders and a 71.4% share, followed by thermal with six tenders and a 17.1% share and hydro with two tenders and a 5.7% share.

Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Equipment was the most popular segment in Asia-Pacific power tenders activity during Q1 2022, with 79 tenders, followed by T&D Project (36) and Power Plant (23).

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:
