Asia-Pacific power industry tenders in Q4 2021: Pakistan leads activity

Looking at tenders by country, Pakistan led the activity in Q4 2021 with 103 tenders and a share of 22.7%, down 4.5% over the previous quarter and down 7% when compared with the last four-quarter average, followed by the Philippines with 85 tenders and a share of 18.7% and Bangladesh with 68 tenders and a share of 15% during the quarter.

Looking at the last four-quarter average, India held the top spot with 232 tenders, followed by Pakistan with 111 and the Philippines with 75 tenders.

Solar is top technology area for tenders in Q4 2021

Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 83 tenders and a 45.4% share, followed by thermal with 79 tenders and a 43.2% share and hydro with ten tenders and a 5.5% share.

Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Equipment was the most popular segment in Asia-Pacific power tenders activity during Q4 2021, with 184 tenders, followed by Power Plant (89) and Generation Equipment (79).

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 272 tenders and a 59.9% share
  2. Project Implementation: 124 tenders and a 27.3% share
