Looking at global power tenders activity divided by the type of technology, hydro held the third position in terms of number of tenders during December 2020 with a 7.6% share.

The proportion of tenders by category in the Hydro technology tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: seven tenders and a 33.3% share
  2. Project Implementation: six tenders and a 28.6% share
  3. Supply & Erection: three tenders and a 14.3% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: two tenders and a 9.5% share
  5. Electricity Supply: two tenders and a 9.5% share
  6. Power Purchase Agreement: one tender and a 4.8% share.

Asia-Pacific leads hydro tenders activity in December 2020

Comparing tenders activity in hydro technology in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with 14 tenders and a share of 66.7% during December 2020, followed by Europe with three tenders and a 14.3% share and South and Central America with two tenders and a 9.5% share.

In fourth place was Middle East and Africa with one tender and a 4.8% share and in fifth place was North America with one tender and a 4.8% share.

Hydro technology tenders in December 2020: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of tenders in Hydro technology for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Ministry for the Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (Spain): 3,000MW from one tender
  2. West Bengal State Electricity Distribution (India): 10MW from one tender.
