Europe power industry tenders in October 2021: Poland leads activity

Looking at tenders by country, Poland led the activity in October 2021 with 31 tenders and a share of 39.7%, up 6.7% over the previous month and up 15% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Spain with five tenders and a share of 6.4% and the Czech Republic with five tenders and a share of 6.4% during the month.

Looking at the last 12-month average, Poland held the top spot with 27 tenders, followed by France with 13 and Germany with nine tenders.

Solar is top technology area for tenders in October 2021

Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 23 tenders and a 60.5% share, followed by thermal with six tenders and a 15.8% share and wind with five tenders and a 13.2% share.

Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment in Europe as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Project was the most popular segment in October 2021, with 25 tenders, followed by Power Plant (22) and T&D Equipment (14).

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 33 tenders and a 42.3% share
  2. Supply & Erection: 24 tenders and a 30.8% share
  3. Consulting & Similar Services: ten tenders and a 12.8% share
  4. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: six tenders and a 7.7% share
  5. Electricity Supply: three tenders and a 3.8% share
  6. Others: one tender and a 1.3% share
  7. Power Purchase Agreement: one tender and a 1.3% share.

Power tenders in October 2021: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:

  1. Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs (Netherlands): 1,400MW from one tender
  2. Ministry for the Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (Spain): 360MW from one tender
  3. JP Elektroprivreda Hrvatske Zajednice Herceg Bosne dd Mostar (Bosnia and Herzegovina): 132MW capacity from one tender.
