Solar technology tenders activity in February 2021 saw 129 tenders announced, marking a rise of 5% over the last 12-month average of 123, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

Looking at global power tenders activity divided by the type of technology, solar held the top position in terms of number of tenders during February 2021 with a 47.1% share.

The proportion of tenders by category in the Solar technology tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

Project Implementation: 98 tenders and a 76% share
Supply & Erection: 14 tenders and a 10.9% share
Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: six tenders and a 4.7% share
Electricity Supply: five tenders and a 3.9% share
Consulting & Similar Services: four tenders and a 3.1% share
Power Purchase Agreement: two tenders and a 1.6% share.

Asia-Pacific leads solar tenders activity in February 2021

Comparing tenders activity in solar technology in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with 44 tenders and a share of 34.1% during February 2021, followed by Middle East and Africa with 36 tenders and a 27.9% share and Europe with 26 tenders and a 20.2% share.

Solar technology tenders in February 2021: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of tenders in Solar technology for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

Government of South Africa: 2,600MW from one tender
Bundesnetzagentur (Germany): 2,150MW from five tenders
Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 1,885MW capacity from two tenders.
