Thermal technology tenders activity in February 2021 saw 111 tenders announced, marking a drop of 27% over the last 12-month average of 152, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

Oil was the top category in thermal technology in terms of number of tenders for the month, accounting for 98 tenders and an 89.9% share, followed by Gas with eight tenders and a 7.3% share. Coal stood in third place with three tenders and a 2.8% share.
Looking at global power tenders activity divided by the type of technology, thermal held the second position in terms of number of tenders during February 2021 with a 40.5% share.
The proportion of tenders by category in the Thermal technology tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 65 tenders and a 58.6% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 41 tenders and a 36.9% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: two tenders and a 1.8% share
- Electricity Supply: two tenders and a 1.8% share

North America leads thermal tenders activity in February 2021
Comparing tenders activity in thermal technology in different regions of the globe, North America held the top position with 81 tenders and a share of 73% during February 2021, followed by Middle East and Africa with 18 tenders and a 16.2% share and Europe with seven tenders and a 6.3% share.
In fourth place was Asia-Pacific with four tenders and a 3.6% share and in fifth place was South and Central America with one tender and a 0.9% share.

The top issuer of tenders in Thermal technology for the month in terms of power capacity involved was:Bundesnetzagentur (Germany) with 50MW from two tenders.
