Thermal technology tenders activity in June 2021 saw 153 tenders announced, marking a rise of 6% over the last 12-month average of 145, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

Oil was the top category in thermal technology in terms of number of tenders for the month, accounting for 136 tenders and an 88.3% share, followed by Gas with 12 tenders and a 7.8% share. Coal stood in third place with six tenders and a 3.9% share.
Looking at global power tenders activity divided by the type of technology, thermal held the top position in terms of number of tenders during June 2021 with a 51.5% share.
The proportion of tenders by category in the Thermal technology tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 102 tenders and a 66.7% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 43 tenders and a 28.1% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: four tenders and a 2.6% share
- Project Implementation: three tenders and a 2% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: one tender and a 0.7% share.
North America leads thermal tenders activity in June 2021
Comparing tenders activity in thermal technology in different regions of the globe, North America held the top position with 77 tenders and a share of 50.3% during June 2021, followed by Asia-Pacific with 32 tenders and a 20.9% share and Middle East and Africa with 30 tenders and a 19.6% share.
In fourth place was Europe with 13 tenders and an 8.5% share and in fifth place was South and Central America with one tender and a 0.7% share.

The top issuer of tenders in Thermal technology for the month in terms of power capacity involved was:NamPower (Namibia) with 50MW from one tender.
