Oil was the top category in thermal technology in terms of number of tenders for the month, accounting for 101 tenders and a 90.2% share, followed by Gas with seven tenders and a 6.3% share. Coal stood in third place with four tenders and a 3.6% share.

Looking at global power tenders activity divided by the type of technology, thermal held the top position in terms of number of tenders during May 2021 with a 48.3% share.

The proportion of tenders by category in the Thermal technology tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

Comparing tenders activity in thermal technology in different regions of the globe, North America held the top position with 60 tenders and a share of 53.6% during May 2021, followed by Asia-Pacific with 36 tenders and a 32.1% share and Middle East and Africa with 12 tenders and a 10.7% share.

In fourth place was Europe with three tenders and a 2.7% share and in fifth place was South and Central America with one tender and a 0.9% share.
