Middle East and Africa power industry tenders in Q4 2021: South Africa leads activity

Looking at tenders by country, South Africa led the activity in Q4 2021 with 231 tenders and a share of 48.7%, down 5.4% over the previous quarter and down 3% when compared with the last four-quarter average, followed by Zimbabwe with 27 tenders and a share of 5.7% and Kenya with 23 tenders and a share of 4.9% during the quarter.

Looking at the last four-quarter average, South Africa held the top spot with 237 tenders, followed by Kenya with 32 and Jordan with 14 tenders.

Solar is top technology area for tenders in Q4 2021

Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 105 tenders and a 68.6% share, followed by thermal with 38 tenders and a 24.8% share and hydro with five tenders and a 3.3% share.

Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Equipment was the most popular segment in Middle East and Africa power tenders activity during Q4 2021, with 239 tenders, followed by Power Plant (100) and T&D Project (75).

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:
