North America power industry tenders in Q1 2022: The US leads activity

Looking at tenders by country, the US led the activity in Q1 2022 with 140 tenders and a share of 80%, up 1.8% over the previous quarter and down 74% when compared with the last four-quarter average, followed by Canada with 35 tenders and a share of 20%.

Looking at the last four-quarter average, the US held the top spot with 546 tenders, followed by Canada with 146 and Puerto Rico with one tender.

Thermal is top technology area for tenders in Q1 2022

Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, thermal accounted for the largest proportion with 48 tenders and a 67.6% share, followed by solar with 17 tenders and a 23.9% share and hydro with four tenders and a 5.6% share.

Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Equipment was the most popular segment in North America power tenders activity during Q1 2022, with 83 tenders, followed by Generation Equipment (51) and Energy Storage (26).

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:
