Looking at global power tenders activity divided by the type of technology, solar held the second position in terms of number of tenders during November 2019 with a 28.3% share.

The proportion of tenders by category in the Solar technology tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 51 tenders and a 63.8% share
  2. Supply & Erection: nine tenders and an 11.3% share
  3. Power Purchase Agreement: seven tenders and an 8.8% share
  4. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: six tenders and a 7.5% share
  5. Consulting & Similar Services: six tenders and a 7.5% share
  6. Electricity Supply: one tender and a 1.3% share.

Asia-Pacific leads solar tenders activity in November 2019

Comparing tenders activity in solar technology in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with 55 tenders and a share of 68.8% during November 2019, followed by Europe with nine tenders and an 11.3% share and North America with eight tenders and a 10% share.

In fourth place was Middle East and Africa with six tenders and a 7.5% share and in fifth place was South and Central America with two tenders and a 2.5% share.

Solar technology tenders in November 2019: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of tenders in Solar technology for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Turkey (Turkey): 1,000MW from one tender
  2. Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution (India) and Basin Electric Power Coop (United States): 500MW from one tender
  3. Coal India (India): 100MW capacity from one tender.
