Global power industry tenders in October 2019: Solar technology down 36%

Solar technology tenders activity in October 2019 saw 82 tenders announced, marking a drop of 36% over the last 12-month average of 129, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

Looking at global power tenders activity divided by the type of technology, solar held the second position in terms of number of tenders during October 2019 with a 30.3% share.

The proportion of tenders by category in the Solar technology tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 61 tenders and a 74.4% share
  2. Consulting & Similar Services: seven tenders and an 8.5% share
  3. Supply & Erection: six tenders and a 7.3% share
  4. Power Purchase Agreement: five tenders and a 6.1% share
  5. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: two tenders and a 2.4% share
  6. Electricity Supply: one tender and a 1.2% share.

Asia-Pacific leads solar tenders activity in October 2019

Comparing tenders activity in solar technology in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with 63 tenders and a share of 76.8% during October 2019, followed by Middle East and Africa with 11 tenders and a 13.4% share and North America with three tenders and a 3.7% share.

In fourth place was Europe with three tenders and a 3.7% share and in fifth place was South and Central America with two tenders and a 2.4% share.

Solar technology tenders in October 2019: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of tenders in Solar technology for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Northern Indiana Public Service (United States): 2,300MW from one tender
  2. NTPC (India): 1,090.29MW from six tenders
  3. Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 600MW capacity from two tenders.
