Global power industry tenders in October 2019: Thermal technology down 18%

Thermal technology tenders activity in October 2019 saw 150 tenders announced, marking a drop of 18% over the last 12-month average of 184, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

Oil was the top category in thermal technology in terms of number of tenders for the month, accounting for 137 tenders and a 93.2% share, followed by Coal with five tenders and a 3.4% share. Gas stood in third place with five tenders and a 3.4% share.

Looking at global power tenders activity divided by the type of technology, thermal held the top position in terms of number of tenders during October 2019 with a 55.4% share.

The proportion of tenders by category in the Thermal technology tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 118 tenders and a 78.7% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 24 tenders and a 16% share
  3. Project Implementation: five tenders and a 3.3% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: two tenders and a 1.3% share
  5. Electricity Supply: one tender and a 0.7% share.

Asia-Pacific leads thermal tenders activity in October 2019

Comparing tenders activity in thermal technology in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with 87 tenders and a share of 58% during October 2019, followed by North America with 39 tenders and a 26% share and Middle East and Africa with 16 tenders and a 10.7% share.

In fourth place was Europe with eight tenders and a 5.3% share.

The top issuer of tenders in Thermal technology for the month in terms of power capacity involved was:MINTEK with 0.8MW from one tender.
