Power plant contracts in November 2021 saw 81 contracts announced, marking a drop of 49% over the last 12-month average of 158, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 57 contracts and a 70.4% share
  2. Consulting & Similar Services: 14 contracts and a 17.3% share
  3. Power Purchase Agreement: six contracts and a 7.4% share
  4. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: four contracts and a 4.9% share.

Asia-Pacific leads power plant activity in November 2021

Comparing contracts activity in power plant segment in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with 38 contracts and a share of 46.9% during November 2021, followed by Europe with 19 contracts and a 23.5% share and North America with 12 contracts and a 14.8% share.

Solar is leading technology for power plant contracts in November 2021

Among the technologies, solar accounted for 54 contracts with a 64.3% share, followed by wind with 12 contracts and a 14.3% share and thermal with six contracts and a 7.1% share.

Power plant contracts in November 2021: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of power plant contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners KS (Denmark): 10,000MW from one contract
  2. Gas Natural Acu (GNA) (Brazil): 1,700MW from one contract
  3. Chem-Energy (United States): 600MW capacity from one contract.

Power plant contracts in November 2021: Top winners by capacity

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Acciona (Spain), Boskalis (Netherlands), DEME Group (Belgium) and MT Hojgaard Holding (Denmark): 10,000MW from one contract
  2. Siemens Energy (Germany) and Andrade Gutierrez (Brazil): 1,700MW from one contract
  3. China Energy Engineering Group Planning and Engineering (China): 886.19MW capacity from five contracts.
